Today is my birthday and the kitchen is a forbiden area! We are off for new Gastronomic experiences to a Restaurant that has 1 michelin star: Drolma, the restaurant of the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona, with Fermí Puig as chef director. We were looking forward to having a good lunch in this restaurant for a long time now, and finally here we are! We have high expectations and sometimes this can be good and sometimes it can be bad.

Lunch was more than correct, but I wouldn't say brilliant. The restaurant atmosphere was elegant and sober, quiet and calm. Tables were exquisitely set and the personnel was extremely nice. I asked for a mushroom rissoto (rice has a magnetism that I can't ignore) and for a gilthead bream with fennel. I enjoyed both dishes but I couldn't hear the bells!!! I'm really sorry about it...










Yesterday night we went for a party with some friends at the SpeakEasy Restaurant, also in Barcelona. This restaurant has less pretentions but the dinner we had there was absolutely fantastic!!! It's a peculiar place to go, there's no neons on the street announcing it, not a sign, nothing... just one of the most famous cocktails Bar in the city: Dry Martini... get inside the bar, head to the kitchen, follow a narrow passage to the back shop... and there you are, that's the Restaurant! A bunch of tables surrounded by some cardboard boxes in a corner and shelves full of wines and cavas and champagne, it feels like you are in a clandestine place... and that's the aim of the restaurant. It all started being a place to celebrate private meetings and events and finally opened to the public with the idea of keeping this clandestine atmosphere, like Chicago or New York's hidden rooms during the 30's when alcohol was forbidden during the dry law.
