Ingredients to make Halwa:
Ghee | : | ¾ cup |
Wheat flour | : | 1 cup – less 2 table spoon |
Semolina (sooji) | : | 2 table spoon |
Sugar | : | 1 cup |
Water | : | 3 cups |
Saffron | : | A few strands |
Raisins | : | 1 table spoon |
Chopped nuts and almonds | : | 2 table spoon |
Method to make Halwa:
- Put the ghee in a largish microwave - safe flat - bottomed dish. Microwave at 100% power for 3 minutes.
- While ghee is warming dry roast the flour and the semolina in a karhai. Keep tossing and stirring till it is golden brown and aromatic.
- Put the sugar,saffron and water in a pan and bring to boil.
- Once the ghee is heated heated, tip in the roasted flour. Stir and cook at the same power for 1 minute.Now take the dish out of the oven, and stirring constantly, pour back into the oven and cook for 4 minutes,uncovered, stirring after every minute. Stand 2 minutes before pouring into a serving dish and garnishing Halwa with nuts and raisins.
