Halwa is Indian traditional sweet, made from wheat flour. Enjoy serving up in winter. In microwave, even a novice can achieve professional results the first time around!

Ingredients to make Halwa:


Ghee
:
¾ cup
Wheat flour
:
1 cup – less 2 table spoon
Semolina  (sooji)
:
2 table spoon
Sugar
:
1 cup
Water
:
3 cups
Saffron
:
A few strands
Raisins
:
1 table spoon
Chopped nuts and almonds
:
2 table spoon

Haldiram's Karachi Halwa(8.82oz., 250g)Method to make Halwa:

  1. Put the ghee in a largish microwave - safe flat - bottomed dish. Microwave at 100% power for 3 minutes.
  2. While ghee is warming dry roast the flour and the semolina in a karhai. Keep tossing and stirring till it is golden brown and aromatic.
  3. Put the sugar,saffron and water in a pan and bring to boil.
  4. Once the ghee is heated heated, tip in the roasted flour. Stir and cook at the same power for 1 minute.Now take the dish out of the oven, and stirring constantly, pour back into the oven and cook for 4 minutes,uncovered, stirring after every minute. Stand 2 minutes before pouring into a serving dish and garnishing Halwa with nuts and raisins.
