Tips on Freezing Fresh Berries

You can enjoy local fruit for months by using this simple freezer method.  I use berries in smoothies and protein shakes, so I buy in bulk and freeze my own.  It's cheaper than buying bagged organic fruit and it supports our local economy.

Freezing Fruit

Rinse berries under cold water and remove stems.

Place on paper towels and allow to air dry for about 30 minutes.

Cover a large cookie sheet with wax paper and transfer berries to cookie sheet.  Stand them on the flat end where stem was removed.  Make sure berries aren't touching.

Freeze for 24 hours until berries are hard and individually frozen.  Place into a freezer ziploc bag and quickly place back into the freezer.  They won't stick together, so you can remove a few berries at a time.  Enjoy~
