Asian-Style Pork Burgers
Ingredients for the burgers:
1 1/2 lbs ground pork
2 green onions, finely diced
1 tsp lemongrass (I love the organic tubes of lemongrass and ginger. Find them in the produce section *see below)
1 tsp fish sauce
1 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
1 large garlic clove, minced
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
*Burger buns
Mix ingredients together. Don't be afraid, get in there with your hands and get messy.
Form a patty that is about an inch thick. I made 5 good size burgers.
Chill patties for about an hour. Now make the slaw topping:
Slaw for Asian burgers:
2 cups freshly shredded cabbage
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tsp natural brown sugar
Mix vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil and brown sugar in a small bowl. Toss with cabbage. Set aside until burgers are done.
Grill burgers for about 8-10 minutes over medium high heat until juices run clear.
Throw the burger buns on the grill and lightly spray with butter flavored cooking spray. Grill until just toasty.
Top burgers with slaw and serve with your favorite condiment. We love the sriracha sauce!!
Other great toppings for these burgers are:
Yum~
