Bukayo: A Sweet Filipino Dessert

Bukayo is from the root work buko which means young coconut meat. This Filipino recipe is most well-liked by children and can also be used as a garnish for other Filipino desserts.

Ingredients:

Shredded young coconut meat
Muscovado (can be replaced with brown sugar)
Evaporated milk

Now, follow these instructions to prepare your bukayo dessert:

1) Mix the evaporated milk and muscovado or brown sugar in a suace pan.
2) Constantly stir the mixture while it boils and wait until it thickens.
3) Add the shredded cocount once the mixture thickened.
4) Remove from heat and let it cool for a bit.
5) Form small lumps of bukayo then refrigerate for a few minutes until it cools.
You may serve your bukayo in a platter. Enjoy your dessert!
