How to make Paneer Pakora

Learn how to make Paneer Pakora.


Here it's a home made recipe for paneer pakora. It is an ideal choice for starter. And great snack in these rainy days. Originally this is a mild taste recipe but if you want to have spicy you may use garlic chutney instead of kothmir fudina chutney.


Preparation time - 15 - 20 minutes
Cooking time - 10 - 15 minutes
Serves - 4 person


Ingredients to make Paneer Pakora:


400 gram paneer - cottage cheese
1/2 to 3/4 cup kothmir fudina ni chutney
1 tea spoon red chilly powder
Salt to taste
2 cup gram flour - besan
1 tea spoon ajwain - carom seeds
A pinch soda bicarb - opt.
2 table spoon rice flour or corn flour
1 table spoon lemon juice
Oil to deep fry

  • Slit each paneer cube without cutting through. Apply green chutney or garlic chutney in the slit. Keep a side.
  • Mix 1.2 tea spoon of red chilly powder and salt in a plate and marinate paneer pieces in it. 
  • Mix gram flour with salt, rice flour, carom seeds, red chilly powder and lemon juice.
  • Add sufficient water and make thick and smooth batter. Keep a side for 10 - 15 minutes. 
  • Deep paneer pieces in batter and deep fry in hot oil at medium flame.
  • Drain and place on a absorbent paper.
  • Sprinkle chaat masala on hot pakora.
  • Hot and spicy Paneer pakoras are ready to serve.
  • Serve them with tomato sauce.
Ingredients to make Green chutney:

1 cup chopped coriander 
1/2 cup chopped mint leaves
5 -6 green chilies
2 tea spoon chopped ginger
1 tea spoon roasted cumin powder
1 table spoon curd
            or
1 tea spoon lemon juice
Salt to taste
1 table spoon roasted peanut - crushed

Method to make Green Chutney:
  • Crush all the ingredients of chutney by adding sufficient water. 
Ingredients to make Garlic Chutney:

10 - 12 cloves garlic 
3 - 4 table spoon red chilly powder
1 table spoon sesame seeds
Salt to taste

Method to Make Garlic Chutney:

  • Mix all the ingredients if garlic chutney and crush in blender after adding some water.
  • Try to add least water, and add more when needed.
