I kept things simple and fun. I have a "How to Draw Fairies and Mermaids" book that they used to make their own fairy pictures. They also got fairy themed tattoos and ate cupcakes covered in fairy dust and watermelon cubes. It was an evening party, so no need for heavier foods. I provided beads and elastic string for the girls to make necklaces and bracelets, but they were having so much fun playing, we didn't even use them.
I found these neat dragonfly lights to go across the kitchen window.
The table was set with potted grass, butterfly candle holders, fairy dust and an iron fairy.
The watermelon cubes were embellished with these cute butterfly picks that I found at Pier1.
I made french vanilla cupcakes with homemade buttercream frosting. I used the India Tree natural food dyes to make a lavender colored icing. I LOVE these dyes. They are made from vegetable colorants and not harmful chemicals. They do not alter the taste of foods, either. I purchased these from Whole Foods and you can buy them online.
The fairy cupcakes.
Each girl received a bottle of "fairy dust" (glitter) to take home (found them at Michaels). It was a fun night for all the little "fairies" that attended. :)
