Janmastami is the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna and is celebrated all over India. It is a celebration of eighth avtar of Lord Vishnu.
This religious festival is celebrated on astami of krishna paksh of shravan month according to the Hindu calender with great devotion and zeal. It is also known as Gokulashtami and Krishnaasthami.
Here there is a recipe of Milk Cake with the great of Lord Krishna. Which is made from milk, so can be taken during fast also. We call it ' DOODH NO HALWO' also.
Cooking time - 25 to 30 minutes
Ingredients to make Milk Cake:
500 ml. full fat milk
1/2 cup milk powder
1/4 cup ghee
1/2 cup - 2 table spoon sugar
1 pinch alum
1 tea spoon lemon juice
For garnishing:
Cardamom powder
Chopped or sliced almond
Saffron

Method to make Milk Cake:
- Mix all the ingredients together in a non stick pan.
- Heat it on very slow flame for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Stir continually.
- When it's color turns to light pink and ghee is separated the milk cake is ready.
- Pour the mixture in a metal tin and allow to cool at room temperature.
- When it is Luke warm Garnish with chopped almond and cardamom powder.
- You can UN mold the Milk Cake in another plat and serve after cutting in small pieces also.
- Calcium rich Milk Cake is ready to serve.
- Sugar and ghee proportion can be changed as per the taste.
- Always take non - stick vessel for making milk cake.
