Taking my son strawberry picking this afternoon on such a beautiful day was a blast from the past of my own childhood when I would walk to the local farm and spend what felt like hours picking the most sweet, red and beautiful strawberries, ensuring that all my vitamins for the month were catered for by feasting on strawberries in the field, as I remember a one for the basket & 2 for me rule used to apply. One that my son was eager to copy today until I stopped him, although the bright red stained mouth was quite a give away when we went to pay for our pickings!
I know that the supermarkets are doing amazing offers on British strawberries, only yesterday I purchased a half price punnet of Scottish beauties from my local Tesco, but nothing at all can beat the smell taste and the building of memories of actually going into the fields and picking your own.
