Rebosado: A Japanese Food Prepared the Filipino Way

Camaron Rebosado or simply known as rebosado is the Filipino version of the popular Japanese food Tempura. It is also one of the favorite sea food recipes here and it is served as a main dish. The method of preparing rebosado is almost similar to the preparation of calamares. However, instead of using squids, shrimps are needed for this Filipino recipe.


Gather these ingredients for your seafood meal:
  • ½ kilo shrimp
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Whole eggs
  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 Cup bread crumbs
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Vetsin

The cooking procedure:

1) Remove the heads and the shells of the shrimps but leave the tails. Also, remove the black veins.
2) Marinate the shrmips in lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and vetsin for 15 minutes.
3) Beat the eggs.
4) Put the flour and bread crumbs in separate bowls.
5) Add salt, pepper, and vetsin into the flour.
6) Dip the shrimp in the eggs. Coat it with flour and roll in bread crumbs.
7) Heat the oil.
8) Deep fry the shrimps until golden brown and texture is crispy.
9) Remove from the frying pan and place on top of paper towels in order to remove excess oil.

Rebosado is also more delicous when dipped in banana catsup or hot sauce. Enjoy your seafood meal!
