Greek meatballs with Hot & Spicy drizzle

A family favorite which is so easy & uncooked can live in the freezer ready to bring out & pop in the oven when time is short and flavour requirement is high.

Meatballs

  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped

  • 500g minced lamb

  • ¼ tsp chilli powder

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp tumaric

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • ¼ tsp paprika

  • 2 tsp sea salt

  • freshly ground black pepper

  • 100 g plain flour, for dusting

  • 4 tbsp olive oil for frying

1. Mix all of the ingredients for the meatballs together in a large bowl. Shape into meatballs, each weighing about 25g.

2. Dust the meatballs lightly in flour.

3. Heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the meatballs until golden.

Spicy Sauce

1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon chilli sauce
1 cup white vinegar
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  1. Combine all ingredients and stir until well mixed.

  2. Stir again just before serving over the meatballs and potatoes as ingredients will settle. (I also add some peppers & onions for extra crunch at this point, sometimes roasted, sometimes raw - you choose)

Add some small boiled potatoes & add Greek Yogurt to drizzle & a dash of hot sauce & serve with pitta, tortilla or my favorite way, as a hot salad topping with lots of green leaves.
