How to make Naan

Learn how to make Naan.


In Indian recipes rotti is very important. Here it's a recipe for traditional Butter Naan. You can make this recipe on tava - griddle or in tandoor also.


Preparation time - 5 minutes
Cooking time - 10 minutes
Serves - 4 person


Ingredients to make Naan:


750 gram refined flour
Salt to taste
2 - 3 table spoon curd
100 gram butter
         or
100 ml oil
1/4 tea spoon baking soda
         or
1/4 tea spoon soda bi carb
1 table spoon black sesame seeds


Method to make Naan:

  • Mix refined flour, salt, curd, soda and oil in a bowl and Kneed a soft dough from it.
  • Apply little ghee or butter and kneed again. Cover with wet muslin cloth and keep a side for 1/2 an hour. If possible give rest for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Divide the dough into equal portion and roll them. Spread black sesame seeds on upper surface.
  • Heat tava - griddle and cook like pulkas.
  • Apply butter on the upper surface of the naan.
  • Repeat the process for the rest.
  • Serve hot Naan immediately with vegetable. 
Tips:
  • You can kneed dough with milk also.
  • For making naan in tandoor apply little water on the lower side of naan and stick it to tandoor's wall.
