Today, there are already lots of different ways of frying a fish. However, the one to be discussed here is the most common and perhaps the simplest method of preparing fried fish.

The ingredients that you need are as follows:
  • 1 medium-size fish (Tilapia is used in this example)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Cooking oil

The fish is usually already clean if it’s bought from a supermarket. Otherwise, follow the instructions below:

1) Wash the fish using fresh tap water.
2) Remove the scales using a fish scaler or the dull edge of a knife.
3) Remove the dorsal fins then cut from gills to vent.
4) Remove the entrails using your fingers and make sure that everything in the cavity is removed.
5) Wash the fish in and out as well as the cavity.

Once your fish is clean, follow the cooking procedure below:

1) Rub the fish with salt and pepper.
2) Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Make sure that the oil is enough to cover the fish.
3) Once the oil starts to smoke, put the fish in the pan.
4) Fry the first side of the fish for 5 minutes or until golden brown. The number of minutes also depends on the thickness of the fish.
5) Flip the fish and fry the other side for another five minutes or until golden brown.
6) Drain the fish using an absorbent paper.

Transfer the fried fish into a serving platter and your dish is already ready to eat! You may mayonnaise or soy sauce as a dipping sauce. However, it’s also delicious to eat this meal with a palapa side dish.
