Yema is among the most easy to prepare Filipino desserts. It is also popular to kids here in the Philippines. I have eaten a lot of yemas during my elementary years.
If you want your kids or yourself to have a creamy and sweet Filipino dessert, just gather these easy to find ingredients:
- 14 oz condensed milk
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp chopped peanuts (optional)
* Note: You may not add peanuts if you’re allergic to it or if you simply don’t like them.
You also need to use a non-sticy sauce pan for best results.
Cooking Procedure:
1) In a bowl, beat the condensed milk and egg yolks until creamy.
2) Allow the butter to melt in a non-sticky sauce pan.
3) Put the heat to medium and stir-in the cream and chopped nuts. Continue stirring to avoid the cream from burning. Do this until the mixture is sticky enough to be molded (around 25 minutes).
4) Remove from heat and let the mixture to cool down.
5) Transfer to a serving dish.
You can shape and design your yema according to your preferences. Yemas here in the Philippines are usually shaped in balls. Enjoy your sweet dessert!
