Ingredients
1/2 cup each chili sauce and molasses
2 tsp salt-free chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
3 1/2 lb chicken, cut in eighths
1/3 cup ginger ale
Preparation - Barbecue Chicken
- Mix chili sauce, molasses, chili powder and cumin in large ziptop freezer bag. Add chicken, seal bag and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Heat outdoor grill for indirect cooking. Remove chicken to foil-lined tray. Pour off marinage into a small glass bowl. Cook marinade in microwave on high 3 minutes, stirring often. Stir in ginger ale; set aside.
- Place chicken, skin side up, on side of grill not directly over heat. Close grill; cook 30 minutes.
- Place chicken, skin side down, directly over heat, brush with some marinade mixture and grill 5 minutes. Turn, brush with marinade and grill 5 minutes more.
