- 4 chicken breast halves, boneless and skinless
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
- 1 tablespoon ginger root, grated (1 teaspoon ground ginger)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (cooking oil)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (1/8 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
- 4 sandwich rolls (hamburger buns), split and toasted
- Chinese cabbage (lettuce) leaves
- Bacon slices, cooked
- 4 slices tomato
Rinse chicken and place it in a plastic bag set in a shallow dish. Combine the water, soy sauce, sesame seeds, ginger, oil, garlic, and if desired, red pepper. Pour over the chicken and close the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for 6 to 24 hours, turning the bag occasionally.
Drain the chicken reserving the marinade. Grill on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 12 to 15 minutes or until tender and no longer pink, turning once and brushing once with marinade halfway through. Discard any remaining marinade.
Place each breast on a sandwich roll and serve with Chinese cabbage (or lettuce), bacon slices, tomato, pickle wedge and fries.
