Pork Marinade

Pork Marinades are seasoned liquid mixtures that add flavor and, in some cases, help tenderize pork. A pork marinade is usually a little lighter than marinades for other meats such as beef marinade, but there is still a wide range of flavorful ingredients to choose from.

Pork goes well with sweet, salty and spicy flavors. A pork marinade could include any one of these ingredients: salt, pepper, garlic, orange juice, lime juice, lemon juice, honey, coriander, tomatoes, horseradish, oregano, onion, cilantro, maple syrup, sugar, vegetable oil, olive oil, vinegar, brandy, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, bay leaves, ginger, curry powder, ginger, oregano, dill, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, cumin and chili peppers.

How to Marinate Pork:
  • Marinate in the refrigerator, NEVER at room temperature.
  • Marinate in a food-safe plastic bag or glass utility dish.
  • Turn meat occasionally during marinating so that all sides are equally exposed to marinade.
  • Allow 1/4 to 1/2 cup marinade for each 1 to 2 pounds of pork.
When to Marinate Pork:
  • For Flavor only, marinate for 15 min. to 2 hrs.
  • For Tenderizing, marinate 2 to 4 hours.
  • longer marination may result in a mushy surface texture depending on the ingredients of the marinade recipe.
